P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction
When car makers eliminated the distributor they needed a way to know the position of the camshaft and crankshaft so they could fire the spark plugs at the correct time. You guessed it, the camshaft sensor tells the PCM the exact location of the camshaft. In this trouble code, P0340, the computer is calling out a problem with the circuit. That can mean a bad sensor, or a wiring problem. Perform the voltage checks in the shop manual before assuming you have a bad camshaft sensor
