Dead gauges on Ford Truck
Dead gauges (instrument cluster) are always a royal pain. Here’s a quick way to determine whether you have a wiring problem or a dead cluster.
Check these fuses (interior fuse panel) with a voltmeter or computer safe test light (not just a “look-see—really test them):
Fuse #33 (15A)
Fuse #45 (10A)
Fuse #35 (10A)
Fuse #41 (10A)
Next, remove the instrument cluster and check for voltage or ground on these wires.
Battery voltage on:
Red/yellow (pin 20), black/light green (pin 12), light green/orange (pin 11).
Ground on:
Black (pin 15)
Pink/orange (pin 13).
If all the powers and ground wires are OK, the cluster is defective and must be replaced or rebuilt.
If you do not see those voltages or ground, you have a wiring problem.
