No heat on passenger side – Caravan, Voyager, Town and Country
If you own the above vehicle and you’re experiencing no heat on the passenger side, you may have to replace the blend air door shaft with an updated part.
1) Disconnect the battery
2) Remove the sound deadening pad from under the driver’s side end of the instrument panel.
3) Remove the driver’s side knee bolster
4) Remove 3 screws that hold the heater core shield to the left end of the HVAC housing.
5) Pull the shield towards the rear so you can disengage the two location tabs that position the front of the shield to the lower formation of the housing near the dash.
6) Remove the shield from the housing
7) Remove 2 screws that hold the passenger blend door actuator to the housing
8) Remove the blend door air shaft and plastic stop attached to the shaft. Note the position of the plastic stop. It must go back in the same position.
9) Install the new blend door shaft and into the housing.
10) Reinsert the plastic stop in the same position as it was removed.
11) Replace the blend door actuator.
12) Replace the 2 screws that hold the actuator
13) Replace the heater core shield
14) Reinstall all the other removed components in reverse order
15) Perform the heater-AC calibration procedure.
a. Turn ignition switch to ON
b. Press and hold the Power and Recirc button on the heater A/C control for at least 5 seconds. The LEDs on delay and recirc will begin to flash noting that calibration has begun.
c. Calibration takes less than 3 minutes. When the LEDs stop flashing, calibration is finished.
d. If the LEDs continue to flash, a trouble code has been set and must be read by a scan tool.
The new blend air door shaft is part #04885511AA

I have a 2001 Dodge Caravan Sport VIN# 2B8GP44G31R121486 with separate drive & passenger zone temp controls. I do not have automatic temperature control. I am experiencing the passenger side blowing cool air problem. I found the plastic external stop that resides on the blend door shaft has the stop finger snapped off. The number on the part was 4885626AA. The dodge parts department does not list this part number. Can you tell me if there is a replacement part number for this external plastic stop?
Also, I believe that the plastic stop was broken due to the blend door actuator turning the blend door shaft too far. I have glued my original plastic stop back together but I wonder if doing a calibration of the heater-A/C will correct the actuator from turning the blend door shaft too much or can you suggest another course of action?
Thank you,
Keith Coad

have heat, not blowing have checked fuse, replaced fan and resistor – Mechanic wonders if could be a control module, anything else? 2001 dodge caravan-6 cyl
Blower motor must get power from the Intelligent Power Module (under hood). Inside the IPM you’ll find the blower motor relay. Jumper across the power terminals (see this post) and see if the blower powers up (with fan switch on and mode switch in heat position). If it does, then it’s a bad relay. If it doesn’t, then check the ground wire from the Heat/AC control head. The ground wire is black/orange and terminates on the right side of the dash. Remember, power flows from the fuse, through the relay, then through the resistor, through the fan speed switch and THEN finds ground as it’s last link. If the ground is bad, everything that comes before it won’t work. Also be aware that the IPM is prone to corrosion. Have your mechanic check the copper connections for corrosion. If they’re to far gone to repair, you’ll have to buy a new IPM ($700).
